Embodied carbon in buildings is measured through lifecycle assessment which calculates emissions across material production transport construction and disposal.
Measuring embodied carbon uses a process called lifecycle assessment. It involves:
Collecting material quantities from architectural and engineering drawings
Applying emission factors from environmental product declarations AusLCI or international databases
Covering lifecycle stages A1 to A5 B and C
Reporting results in kilograms of carbon dioxide equivalent
Software tools and recognised databases ensure consistency with ISO and Australian standards.
Accurate measurement is essential for certification compliance and reducing emissions. Inconsistent methods can causes delays or rejections.
We complete detailed lifecycle assessments with results ready for submission to council investors and certification bodies.
ISO 14040 and 14044 lifecycle assessment standards
Green Star lifecycle impact credits
NABERS embodied carbon benchmarks
