Short answer
You supply design documents (floor plans, elevations, glazing, insulation, services etc.), Certified Energy will model your proposed building and a matching reference building, compare performance and issue a Compliance Report. The process usually takes a few business days depending on project complexity.
Full answer
The VURB assessment process begins with you submitting design drawings, specifications (such as glazing, insulation, services and lighting) and site details including the climate zone. Certified Energy then provides a fixed quote and estimated timeframe based on the complexity of your project. We create energy models for both your proposed design and a DTS-compliant reference building with the same geometry and use. Simulations are run under identical conditions to compare performance. If your design underperforms, revisions may be recommended. Once compliance is achieved, a detailed report is delivered. Timelines vary, typically 3–5 days for simple projects.
Why this matters
Planning a VURB assessment early helps you stay on track with your project timeline and avoid approval delays. It allows you to make informed design decisions from the outset, reducing the risk of costly redesigns later. Additionally, early planning ensures you can allocate the right budget and time for modelling, revisions and documentation, making the entire compliance process smoother and more predictable.
