Do I Need a BASIX Certificate for My Project?

Short answer

You need a BASIX Certificate for most new residential builds and renovations in NSW that cost $50,000 or more.

Full answer

A BASIX Certificate is mandatory for new homes, townhouses, dual occupancies, multi-unit dwellings and residential alterations or additions valued at $50,000 or more. It is also required for swimming pools and spas holding more than 40,000 litres of water. Certain projects may be exempt, such as minor works under the cost threshold.

Why this matters

Not knowing whether your project requires a BASIX Certificate can lead to costly delays. Councils and certifiers will reject applications that do not include the certificate when required.

How Certified Energy can help

We assess your plans to confirm if a BASIX Certificate is required. If so, we prepare and lodge it on your behalf. If not, we provide documentation to help you move forward smoothly.
