Do NatHERS for existing homes ratings expire?

Short answer

No, but the rating can become outdated if your home has changed since the assessment.

Full answer

NatHERS for Existing Homes provides a thermal performance rating based on your home’s condition at the time of assessment. While the rating does not officially expire, it may no longer reflect the true energy performance if the home has undergone renovations, upgrades or material changes. Many rebate and finance programs recommend a rating that is less than two years old.

Why this matters

An outdated rating could lead to missed funding opportunities or inaccurate upgrade advice.

How certified Energy can help

We can review your current rating and advise whether an updated assessment is needed. If changes have occurred, we will provide a new rating aligned with the latest data collection methods.
