How do I lodge a BASIX Certificate?

A BASIX Certificate must be lodged with your Development Application or Complying Development Certificate in New South Wales. It confirms your project meets energy and water efficiency targets and is a requirement for planning approval.

Short answer

Lodge your BASIX Certificate by submitting it alongside your DA or CDC through your local council or private certifier.

Full answer

Once your BASIX assessment is complete, a certificate is issued through the NSW Planning Portal. You then submit this document together with your architectural drawings and planning documents to your local council or certifier.

You must ensure:

  • The certificate is current (not expired or revised)
  • The plans submitted match the data in the BASIX assessment
  • All commitments in the certificate are carried out during construction

Why this matters

Failing to lodge a valid certificate will delay planning approval. It also creates compliance risks if the design changes without updating the BASIX Certificate.

How certified Energy can help

We complete your BASIX assessment, provide the certificate, and ensure it is ready for submission with your DA or CDC. We also assist if design changes require a certificate revision.
